A message from Chris Selwood AM, Event Director
31 Mar 2020
To our Bridgestone World Solar Challenge family,
These are unprecedented times, and right now we know that for many of you it is an especially difficult time as the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies around the globe.
I want to begin by saying that our thoughts remain with all of you, and we trust you are able to stay safe and healthy.
It is particularly unfortunate for BWSC teams that this pandemic has taken hold at a time when teams across the globe are preparing for this year’s solar events, and to assemble their squads for the 2021 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
Be reassured that planning for our next event continues, and we are anticipating for this to take place in October 2021, as tradition dictates.
We are also closely monitoring the changing situation with COVID-19, however are still aiming to have our regulations revealed to you all on World Environment Day, which falls on Friday 5 June this year.
We know that restrictions on the movement of people in your countries has made gatherings of multiple difficult, and that in turn has made it a challenge for you to meet to plan for the building of your solar cars.
Like many challenges in solar car racing, we know the ingenuity of our teams will ensure that solutions can be found.
Please continue to keep safe, healthy and positive at this time, we can’t wait to see your progress unfold and be rewarded in 2021.
