Welcome from Chris Selwood AM, Event Director

Happy World Environment Day from the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge Team.

Whether your environment is hot and dry like ours, green and lush, mountainous, flat, sea scaped, land-locked or otherwise, we hope to take a few moments today to appreciate it and the wonderful world we live in.

For us, World Environment Day 2018 comes with extra excitement, as we announce our 2019 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge event dates and regulations in the Challenger Class, Cruiser Class and Adventure Class categories.

Dates: 13 – 20 October 2019

In 2019, teams will leave Darwin on 13 October with the event concluding in Adelaide on Sunday 20 October.

Darwin will also be a hive of activity in the week leading up to October 13 as teams complete their static and dynamic scrutineering to ensure the cars meet all the 2019 Regulations.

And of course, they’ll be plenty of activity and entertainment towards the end of event week in Adelaide, as teams arrive in Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga completing their 2019 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge journey.

Team registrations and volunteer registrations now open

In 2017, the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge welcomed 42 entrants from 19 countries. We look forward to seeing familiar teams and faces once again in 2019 and welcoming new teams and volunteers too.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media to stay up to date with everything that the event and our competing teams are up to.
