How many times has your team participated in the event?
We are a new team and the 2019 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge will be our first.
What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?
To design and build a sustainable solar electric car that people will want to drive. It’s about maximum performance from minimal energy. But success in the BWSC Cruiser Class is more than building an energy efficient car – it’s about connecting with a potential market. It’s about style and desirability.
Our design philosophy focuses on creating a solar car that people could imagine driving every day knowing they were helping to preserve the environment for future generations.
We can’t wait to introduce you to our car! She’s got personality and a touch of Aussie outback glam.
What is unique about your solar car?
Five States. Five Universities. One Team. Australia’s only national team, the ATN Solar Car Team is an incredible collaboration and blend of industry expertise, undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers and faculty members from five of Australia’s most innovative and enterprising universities: University of Technology Sydney, RMIT University, University of South Australia, QUT and Curtin University.
Our solar electric car has been designed for the Cruiser Class. She is a light weight, two-seater solar sports car featuring state of the art solar, electric motion, and automotive technologies wrapped up in an elegant and aerodynamic design package.
Her personality is unique!
Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?
The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge provides us the unique opportunity to clearly demonstrate our passion to deliver technical solutions that are sustainable, real world, state of the art, desirable, and beautiful.
The BWSC allows us to give people a glimpse of the future, share our experience and knowledge across the team and beyond and strongly motivates us to pursue excellence beyond winning.
What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?
We’re Aussie locals!
We look forward to welcoming and collaborating with teams from around the world - sharing this road trip of a lifetime along the iconic Explorers Way, from tropical Darwin, through the red centre and South Australia’s outback, to the finish line festivities in Adelaide. Bring it on!
