What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

Being comprised of younger team members, our team has struggled with having the design knowledge warranted in building a solar car. For this race, we prioritized spending time beforehand to learn and develop our knowledge and skillset. We hoped that this would translate into building the best car in our history!

What is unique about your solar car?

Viridian has a brand-new shape not seen before from the team. It is a single fairing car where the driver sits in the middle allowing the aerobody to be shaped like a sleek bullet. The shape is optimized to reduce aerodynamic drag and maximize solar collection. This design features a monocoque chassis and a lightweight suspension system which add to the fact that Viridian is 50 kg lighter than its predecessor, Polaris.

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

We view the Bridestone World Solar Challenge as the ultimate test for the car and the team. BWSC offers us the opportunity to push our car to the limits and find improvements that can be made in the future, as well as meet teams from around the globe and develop life long connections.

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

We are looking forward to seeing the beautiful and ever-changing landscape of the Australian Outback. There is nothing like it in Canada!
