Explorer Class

Inspiration and Adventure

The challenging road to decarbonisation involves a range of integrated pathways and solutions including battery electrification, solar, wind, synthetic fuels, and green hydrogen. 

The newly renamed Adventure Class, now the Explorer Class will give the BWSC an even broader platform to showcase prospective ideas, technology, and renewables as well as for cars designed for previous events (perhaps being run by a new team). Explorer Class cars will meet all current safety standards.  

What can we expect from entries in the Explorer Class? 

Inspiration 

From the earliest days of the World Solar Challenge, it became clear that collaboration, teamwork and participation on a global stage is such a unique personal development opportunity that it should not be restricted to those with the ability to command the highest levels of funding for their project. 

Achievement 

The World Solar Challenge firmly believes that those able work effectively with their available resources are equally entitled to feel the thrill of achievement as those who have won the greatest prize. 

Innovation 

The Explorer Class will further expand the BWSC’s visionary quest for harnessing renewable energy sources by championing people that can solve problems.
