About The Team
How many times has your team participated in the event?
Our team has participated 4 times in the event. The first in 2005 in the World Solar Cycle Challenge, reaching third place, and then joined in 2011, 2013 and 2019 with different competition vehicles.
What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?
Our solar car design philosophy focuses on integrating innovative technologies that come from university projects and academic research, merging the work of students and researchers. Every part of the vehicle is crafted with energy efficiency as an objective, aiming to minimize consumption while maximizing performance. This goal is also reached by employing recyclable materials, supporting sustainability even from the design process view. This approach leads to the manufacturing of a light vehicle, which reduces energy consumption and enhances efficiency. Through the union of technological innovation and environmental responsibility, our solar car, Emilia 5, actively supports the future of sustainable transportation.
What is unique about your solar car?
What makes our solar car unique is that it is entirely custom-made. Every component, from the mechanical parts to the electrical systems, has been specifically designed and manufactured to meet our goals by our students, researchers, professors, and volunteers. Each element is produced either in our workshop or within the university environment, allowing for complete control over the design and the manufacturing process, and therefore, leading to an efficient optimization for weight reduction, innovation, and sustainability.
Why does youre team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?
For our team, this challenge represents the greatest and final test of our skills and dedication. Winning this major competition is not just about crossing the finish line first; it is more importantly about proving and acknowledging our hard work and passion in the most significant solar cars competition in the world. After participating in other international competitions, this is for our team the last main challenge to conquer.
What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?
We are excited to experience Australia’s unique landscapes while testing our solar car, Emilia 5, against challenging conditions. We look forward to connecting with teams from around the world, sharing knowledge, and embracing the adventure. It’s an incredible opportunity to learn, connect and experience.
