42: South Australian Solar Vehicle Association (SASVA)

Our entry into the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge will be our debut entry to complete the journey. We did participate in the virtual challenge in 2021 as the South Australian Solar Vehicle Association (SASVA).

The philosophy behind the design of our vehicle includes an emphasis on collaboration, use of readily accessible materials and commercially available technologies, whilst also ensuring minimal weight, high efficiency and sustainability in design.

Our solar vehicle features a lite weight vacuum-bagged composite body, as well as repurposed and affordable components. The solar cells featured on our vehicle are manufactured locally in Adelaide and have been modified specifically for our application. They otherwise can be found on Australian rooftops providing high output efficiency in Australia's challenging conditions. Our console is also provided by one of our supporting businesses which enables us to easily program, monitor and control components of the vehicle’s energy production and usage.

As a team, we value the opportunity to challenge our existing knowledge and skills. We also appreciate the opportunity that the challenge provides for connection with other teams, exchanging innovative ideas and sharing the passion of the global solar community. We are fortunate to be in South Australia and we love to support other teams where we can leading up to the challenge.

We’re excited to experience the Australian Outback as we travel from Darwin to Adelaide. We are also looking forward to celebrating the completion of our first challenge as the SASVA team when we cross the finish line in Victoria Square, marking the culmination of our journey and this life changing experience. Our team motto embraces ‘Adventure Engineering’.
