    About The Team

Top Dutch Solar Racing has competed twice before, in 2019 and 2023. In our first competition, we placed 4th and won the Excellence in Engineering Award. Then, in 2023, we placed 6th and won the Safety Award!
At Top Dutch Solar Racing, our philosophy is to design a car built on proven and tested concepts. Learning from nature and the engineering successes of others! Analysing and reflecting on bird aerodynamics, our past cars, competitor cars, F1 electronics, MotoGP mechanics, overseas race strategies, sidecars, and many more interesting things. We believe there’s so much to learn, and putting all of this into practice is how we can create the best possible car.
The 4th Top Dutch Solar Racing car has many unique aspects - it’s our very first Catamaran-shaped solar car! We’ve also introduced other unique aspects like; Ride Height Device System (adjustable suspension), tilting our car into the direction of the wind to ensure it’s as aerodynamic as possible and a new take on a quick-release steering wheel. Besides all of this, we’re refining what has been done before. It’s this process of perfection that makes the rest of our car truly unique!
At the core of Top Dutch Solar Racing are values of development, sustainability, and unity. All 3 values are tested and promoted at an event like BWSC. We develop ourselves, so our future lives, community, and world can become a better place. What does this better place look like? It’s where unity and sustainability are at the forefront of everything we do. Whether it’s minimising carbon footprint, making engineering more effective, or even just how people work together as a team. BWSC is where we can practice and perfect our values to ensure we contribute to a better world.
The Top Dutch Solar Racing team ‘25 has many reasons to look forward to our visit to Australia. The most popular is to compete at the BWSC. Getting to finally put our car to the test and hopefully get it on the podiums. Besides this; meeting like-minded people, traveling, and of course learning!
