Saltwater Ceremony Welcomes Solar Teams

With one week to go, the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC) teams from around the world will be officially Welcomed to Country today by Traditional Owners, in a Saltwater Ceremony at Darwin Waterfront.

 

 

BWSC teams will receive a welcome to remember from Larrakia Elder, Richie Fejo, who will introduce and explain the ceremony before inviting them into the water to receive the Saltwater Blessing by Larrakia to welcome and protect them on their journey on Country.

 

 

BWSC Event Ambassador, Chris Selwood AM, said the Ceremony is a very special way to pay respects to Traditional Owners, celebrating both Country and the rich cultural diversity of our competitors.

 

 

‘The Ceremony is a fitting reminder of the responsibility we have to our planet and to those who walked before us. We are also obligated to look forward, to protect the future of next generations through renewable solutions towards climate change,’ Mr Selwood said.
